Early Life
Born in Madeira, Portugal on February 5, 1985, Cristiano Ronaldo was raised in a working-class family and demonstrated interest in soccer as a young child. At age 12, he moved to Lisbon where he attended Sporting CP’s academy. This marked the beginning of a professional career for Cristiano.

Cristiano began his career at Sporting CP, where his speed, skill and confidence earned him attention from many of the world’s top clubs. After an outstanding performance against Manchester United in 2003, he was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson, which would begin the global rise of Ronaldo.

Upon joining Manchester United, Ronaldo grew into one of the most exciting players in the world, enjoying success under Ferguson from 2003-2009.
